Passover Seder 2025

The Passover Seder on 12th April was a really special evening, with over 70 people, both old members and new, coming together to celebrate.

Rabbi Anna did a fantastic job leading the service—thoughtful, engaging, and complete with the usual singalong (and spontaneous percussion!). Although Hazel Phillips had done the organising in advance, Sallie and Gavin stepped up brilliantly in her absence and kept everything running smoothly. Thanks, as ever, to Sue Brisk for the charoseth.

The Seder featured a traditional telling of the Pesach story, and focussed on its message of liberation and promise of a brighter future. Glasses were raised, leaning to the left, and matzo eaten, to show that it is a night different to any other.

There was a joyous atmosphere, real camaraderie, and a highlight was one of the children finding the Afikomen, which had earlier been cunningly hidden!

Elijah did not return, but at one point a cat ran through the hall – clearly searching for chicken soup!
