A large group of all ages gathered at Rabbi Anna’s house to celebrate Sukkot on Sunday 12th October. We started the afternoon by helping to decorate the sukkah with some light greenery, fruit and some beautiful paper fruit decorations. Hanging a pear with string proved to be more challenging than you might think! When everyone gathered to sit in and around the sukkah, we shared who we would love to invite to join us for that day if we could. It was touching to hear who everyone would choose. We enjoyed singing, dancing and the shaking of the lulav.
The lulav and etrogs were homemade in-keeping with our community wider Eco Judaism initiatives. We enjoyed a crocheted etrog made by Grace, a leek-based lulav by Rabbi Anna, a beautiful wispy lulav with a lemon made by Rachel, a sewn lulav and etrog made by Jen Hawkins and a painted avocado etrog made by Ed and Ruben. We then finished the afternoon with tea, cake and snacks before a joint effort of breaking everything down. – Lily
